Updated HP ink cartridges and the impact on the purchase price

As HP puts it: "Starting in early May 2012, HP will update various ink cartridges. The updated ink cartridges are compatible with both current and future printers that use these ink cartridge numbers. They have been developed together with future devices to provide new features. Cartridges that were available before spring 2012 will not be compatible with certain printers and all-in-one devices that will be launched in 2013."

This means that older cartridge models cannot be refilled for newer printers (with the same printing unit)! In this respect, we differentiate between the old series (AS) and the updated (=new) series (NS) for different HP ink cartridges. You can "easily" distinguish the old and the new series yourself, check the warranty expiration date on the front of the cartridge. Attention, the date format is printed in the American spelling and is YYYY/MM/DD (year/month/day). These models are affected:
